Scott Gottlieb, M.D. has served as a member of our board of directors since October 2019. Dr. Gottlieb has also served on the boards of directors of Illumina, Inc. since February 2020 and Pfizer Inc. since June 2019. Dr. Gottlieb has served as a Special Partner on NEA’s healthcare investment team since April 2019, and a Resident Fellow at American Enterprise Institute since April 2021. Prior to that, he served as the 23rd Commissioner of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration from May 2017 to April 2019. Prior to serving as Commissioner, Dr. Gottlieb held several roles in the public and private sectors, including serving as a Venture Partner at NEA from January 2007 to May 2017, and a senior advisor to the Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services in 2004. He is presently a contributor to CNBC and the CBS News program Face the Nation. Dr. Gottlieb holds a B.A. from Wesleyan University and an M.D. from Mount Sinai School of Medicine.
